In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;
A Story about Strength in Weakness
A while back, I had the privilege to know a young lady, Donna. She had some mental health challenges such as wild mood swings, couple with some developmental disabilities, like very poor insights into how to best take care of herself.
When I first met her -though I knew her struggles- I made the careless mistake of assuming that I could just use what I already knew and things would go smoothly. Admittedly this was an overly confident attitude, and I soon found out that I was in over my head: that with all that I knew, I did not know that much. nor did I know what to do.
I uttered one of those help-me-now-Jesus prayers and it was at this time, when my frustrations/my weakness were intersected by God’s grace, that I then begin to see -again- that Donna’s struggles were not unknown to God, and that because God loved her so much, He would use me to connect with Donna in helpful ways.
Thus, once my focus became more heavenward for Donna’s sake, I began to see His tools at my disposal to help her in her own life concerns.
I am SO glad that God has my back covered. Now if I can just look there MORE OFTEN!
Blessings on your journey,
