High School is tough enough without being bullied, but the reality is that this stuff happens. The other reality is that you can do something about. Owning that piece of realestate is the first step to overcoming the stigma of disabilities of mental illness.
First, though, I want to shout out STOP! if you are the bully. No one gave you the right to lord it over another person. Just think for one moment, and put yourself into this person’s shoes: “how would you like it if someone started pushing around someone that you really cared about, and you could do nothing about it!”
Second, If you are the one being bullied, STEP UP! Find someone who will identify with your needs and who will walk with you through this struggle. It is your decision, but make it a good one to do something today!
One organization that I would recommend is NAMI, the National Alliance of Mental Illness. The people that I have met in this group in my neck of the woods are very helpful.
Again, my advice to you is to STEP-UP, and don’t allow others’ negative opinions of your disability erode the truth that you were created on purpose and for a purpose.
Overcome the stigma that of disabilities by starting today!
Let me know how you are doing!
Blessings on your Journey
