Struggling to Progress

“Without A Struggle There Can Be No Progress”

imagesFrederick Douglas was so right when these words were spoken: “without a struggle, there can be no progress”.  And, while you and I may well agree with him, when we are going through a struggle, there -at times- STILL can seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

And, because of that, I want to offer some words of inspiration and motivation that you and I can be come more mindful of so that the next struggle we face could become, not only, less intense, but even a stepping stone towards progress.

Let me explain…

I will be dipping back into the Old Testament scriptures to show  what I have found to be some life applications to do just this.

The Scripture is :

So [God] said, I will bring you out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the  Hivite  and the Jebusite to a land flowing with milk and honey.”

Exodus 3:17 NAS

Israel faced many struggles as it marched towards that land of milk and honey, and, at times, their struggle became their focal point instead of a stepping stone towards progress.  But, God, never intended that they hang onto this type of mindset. Instead  He made them aware that they could have a paradigm shift in their outlook WHEN they kept their focus on His decrees.  And the same is true for you and me.

Let me, now, give you a thumb nail sketch of Israel’s situation in that above Scripture, as I think we will then be able to better identify with what is happening.

Israel was being held as slaves by Egypt for over 400 years and their time of being dominated was going to come shortly to an end because Moses had just been told by God that He was going to free them.

At face value, most of us would be hyped to receive news like this:  freedom from years of domination.  But this freedom got pretty sticky, pretty fast.  Firstly, Moses, himself, questioned his ability to lead God’s people to freedom.  Then, the Israelites complained all along the way –at times, balking that their enemies (all those ‘ites’) were too much for them- towards that Freedom…

…even when God told them all that He would be with them!

So, let’s pose this questions:  Did God’s good news become void because of Israel’s focusing on their problems? And, how does all this factor into a website like ‘Dismantling disabilities’?

I am glad you asked images (1)

Steps to Struggling through to Progress

Firstly, God is still calling you and I out of the many things that have dominated/disabled our lives for too long in order that we may be freed to follow His calling that He already has place upon your lives.  So, listen to Him.

Secondly, Struggles are inevitable, but it is our choice on how we will handle them.

Mutiple choice here on how to handle the struggles:

  1. God’s way to work things out
  2. Our way to work things out

HINT:  The answer is “1”

Thirdly, we need to keep our eyes, our time, our energies on the goal, namely His call upon our lives.  This will help us to not so easily veer from the progress we have made and will help us build momentum as we continue towards/in our passion.

So, ready for the new year?  I will be writing more on these steps throughout the year to share with how I am doing at following these steps.

Blessings on your journey,
